01 Overview
Camera OCR is an iOS application that uses Optical Character Recognition to convert pictures into editable text.
The app includes text-to-speech conversion, automatic email address detection with Mail app integration, to-do list creation, and local scheduled notifications.
This dissertation project combines OCR with machine learning to detect emotional sentiment in text, aimed at healthcare communication. A patient can write a letter to their doctor, take a photo, and send it as an email with detected emotion metadata, which helps healthcare providers understand a patient's emotional state and prioritise care.
